EMPOWERING.

Fashion Workshops are a signature program at Ruby Room. An exclusive and tailored experience for youth in foster care or youth experiencing homelessness.

A Fashion Workshop includes a personal styling session with brand new clothes, shoes and accessories that suit each child's needs.  Our unique workshop curriculum engages young people in group exercises and creative projects that teach life skills.

Each workshop empowers children to use fashion as a tool to:

  • Receive essential clothing and personal items

  • Practice self-expression

  • Explore their identity

  • Build self-confidence

  • Feel love and support from their community

Essential.

Fashion Workshops offer a personal styling service with brand new clothes, shoes and accessories tailored to each child's needs. Through personal styling services, young people are provided the ultimate make-over experience. Youth focus on life skills and building resources that help them reach their immediate goals.

Signature workshops include:

  • Back to School

  • Young Professionals

  • Fitness & Wellness

For foster youth, the experience of a Fashion Workshop is meeting basic clothing needs and elevating their self-esteem. With the many obstacles to wellness and success, especially for foster youth, providing them with the confidence to overcome their circumstances is essential.

Authentic.

Clothing, along with our pride and satisfaction with our attire, impacts the way we feel about ourselves, which in turn influences how we act and present ourselves. When we look our best, we feel and act our best. For the youth we serve, having a sense of one’s own personal style gives them the confidence needed to take on new and upcoming challenges while staying true to who they are.

supportive.

There are more than 10,000 youth in the foster care system of Washington State, many of those children have faced a number of disturbing or traumatic events prior to entering the system and are left without belongings that make them feel like themselves. We put a shirt on their back and hope in their hearts.
